As soon as I saw them in person, I knew it was a quality item, and here's why: First, it's made in the USA, which is harder to find these days. Second, it's SOLID AS A ROCK! The frame is welded tubular steel, like you'd find on a truck's grill guard, or a high-quality mountain bike. The tires are solid rubber, so you don't have to worry about air, ever. The handlebar joint has a hard plastic cover that prevents pinch-points. The rear wheels are so far apart, I don't think it's possible to tip over. In short, this 27-pound trike is not your average plastic throw-away toy, and that's why it's more expensive. This will be in your family or circle of friends for generations, as opposed to a few months with a cheaper, plastic alternative. For my kids, I want to buy solid, long-lasting items, made in the US whenever I can, and this purchase was a great start. Note: I did not purchase the package deal with protective gear, so I can't review those items.
